Artist's Statement

Chris believes in the transformative power of nature, and says, "Photography has the astounding ability to bring the Wild into our lives when we cannot otherwise travel to or connect with the freedom of nature." His goal in his landscape photography is to touch viewers with the power, the wonder, and the beauty of the natural world — to give them, through his fine-art images, an escape into the Wild.

Biographical Information

Chris' artistic training began with an undergraduate degree in Theatre Arts from Macalester College in St.Paul, Minnesota, where he was able to work in numerous disciplines, including drawing, painting, scenic design, and lighting. After college, he gravitated towards video and still photography, looking for ways to capture and share the beauty of the out-of-doors. A turning point in his artistic development came as a result of studying with noted photographer and teacher Alain Briot in Arizona in 2003. For the last five years, Chris has immersed himself in the esthetic and practical aspects of digitally-based, fine-art landscape photography, learning to see with greater perception, developing a personal style, and printing large-scale images that artistically reflect the beauty he has seen in the natural world.
