April has been designated as community celebration month for the arts
in healthcare,
and April 28th – May 1st Minneapolis will host the 21st
Annual International Conference
of the Society of Arts in Healthcare.
Ahhh! Is a multi media, multi-sensory creative exploration of the connections
between art, healing, spirituality, and community. The Ahhh! Show features
visual art by :

Truer (paintings, mixed media and wall hanging)

White (silk paintings, mixed media and watercolor)
Carol
Patt (ceramic sculpture and pottery)
Andre
Plante (carved wooden mandalas)
Richard
Bonk (digitized mandalas)

students from Saint Catherine’s University Minneapolis campus
Folk Art classes and
Masters
in Holistic Health Studies (personal altars, shrines, masks, quilts,
and more).

show runs April 10th – May 8th
Saturday, April 10th, 7 - 10 pm
Opening Reception
This event features: a poetry and musical interlude, fabulous catering
by “ Foodie” (Lis Viehweg) and henna artist Judy Ostrowski
from Mehndi Moon will be on hand as well.
Monday, April 12th, 7 - 9 pm
Bedford Poets & Friends
Bedford Poets (Dan Bachhuber, Diane Javenpa, John Krumberger,
Maureen Skelly, Thomas Smith, and Jere Truer), have been meeting together
for over 20 years and recently published a group anthology of their
poetry. Individual members have published chap books and are anthologized
as well.
Pat Samples will also read.

Artist (visual, musical,
and written word) Panel and Ritual
Discussion on the intersection of creativity, healing, spirituality,
and community.
Creation of a process art piece / ritual.
Saturday, April 24th, 1 - 2pm
Showing and discussion of the film
“Creative Aging”
Produced by MnCAAN (Minnesota Creative Arts and Aging
Network) and TPT, the film explores the positive impact of participation
in art activities on the health and well being of aging adults.
Saturday April 24th, 3 - 5pm
Mandala Making Workshop with
Richard Bonk and Lee Truer
This hands-on experiential art workshop is open to artists and non-artists
alike.
Basic supplies provided but feel free to bring additional supplies
if you so choose.
The workshop will feature an opening meditation.
Wednesday, April 28th, 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Tai Chi and Chi Gung
Introductory exercise workshop lead by Lee Dunn of High Moon Tai Chi
Saturday May 8th, 8 -10 pm
Closing Concert by Jere Truer and friends
Jere will perform original works and some covers that match the theme
of the Ahhh! Show. He will be featured on electric piano, guitar,
and hand drums.
Closing drum circle with opportunities to dance and sing along.
