Alternative Hybrids

Alternative Hybrids : Expressions from the Modern Experience, a three-person exhibition featuring works by Elise Hanson, Dana Potter, and Jenny Harp, will open on Saturday, February 11 at Vine Arts Center. The exhibition investigates the physicality of a various materials, and is an exploration of themes such as technology, movement, chaos, and repetition. These three artists undertake complex processes to combine both print and digital technologies. Ultimately, each artist walks the line between what is purely mechanical and what is innately human.

The Opening Reception takes place on Saturday, February 18 from 6-9pm at Vine Arts Center.
The Artists will discuss their work at 7pm that same evening.
The exhibition, reception and Artist remarks are free and open to the public.
The exhibition will be on view from February 11 to March 4, 2017.

Elise Hanson received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography from the University of Northern Iowa in 2016, and has exhibited in fifteen group exhibitions and four solo exhibitions.

Dana Potter graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in printmaking form the University of Northern Iowa in 2015, and has exhibited in the likes of Syracuse University Art Galleries (Syracuse, NY), and Disjecta Gallery (Portland, OR), where she was the 2016 recipient of the Southern Graphics Council’s Undergraduate Printmaking Fellowship award.

Jenny Harp received her Master of Fine Arts degree in printmaking from the University of Iowa in 2015, and has held many exhibitions across the country. Her work is featured in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, NY) and the Museum of Modern Art (New York, NY).
